The SHAPES System
The SHAPES Language Training System is a simple, graphic system that teaches adults to understand and speak any foreign language without translating. 1. You learn a small collection of words used a lot and understood by everyone. If you’re a total beginner, the words you learn will enable you to ask and answer questions and explain what you need and what you need to know. If you already know some French or Spanish, you’ll learn words and expressions used by more advanced speakers. 2. You learn to put words together the way native speakers put them together.  Robin teaches you to do this with SHAPES – a set of five plastic pieces. These five colored, geometric pieces show you how to connect words and where to put words in a French or Spanish sentence. They help you see the language when you’re listening and they help you put words together when you speak. Using SHAPES, you learn to understand without translating and you remember without memorizing. 3. You talk. The course is an ongoing conversation. You use words you might already know, and you learn words you need to know and are ready to learn, talking about things that interest you.
